Batteries

Batteries

  • Definition
In general when number of cell are connected in series , they form a battery . But a storage battery an electrochemical device which deliver electrical energy by chemical reaction through it different constitution when immersed in a conducting liquid known as electrolyte currents flows through a closed external circuit connected across the two electrode.`

ΓΌ Types
Batteries are of two types :
1.     A Primary Battery                           2. Secondary  Battery

1.       A primary cell is that battery in which the chemical reaction is not reversible. The electrode and the Daniel Cell and dry cell are the example of this type.

A secondary battery is that battery is that battery which the chemical reaction is reversible  i.e. after  discharge the constituent can be restored to their original form by the process of charging thus changing electrical energy into chemical energy . Lead acid battery and alkaline batteries are the example of this type which are also known as storage batteries .
